What's Congress doing lately?

We've got a very expensive (in both lives and treasure) and very unpopular war going on, horrendous trade deficits and government deficit, a health care system that doesn't cover 40 million plus people, a stagnant to sinking median real wage, a plunging US dollar, and other major problems to address in this country.

So what's Congress been doing? This week the Senate added an amendment to a bill to specifically condemn moveon.org for their General Petraeus or General Betrayus ad in the New York Times. Sure the ad was in poor taste, but how does that mean the US Senate should spend any time at all on it?

Meanwhile a Congressional committee held hearings to discuss profanity and violence in rap music.

You've got to be fucking kidding me.

Foreclosures

Home foreclosures are up 36% from last month and are double the rate in 2006. Still think the economy is great? The dollar continues to sink (the Euro hit another all time high recently at $1.39) and people are losing their homes at astonishing rates. I wonder if Bush Co. will come up with some way to blame the Democrats?
