Most people don't like beer

Here's something to ponder: why is most beer made for people who don't like beer? Seriously, it is. Think about it. With a few exceptions like Guinness, which besides being a very good beer has long had a brilliant marketing campaign (ha ha), the bestselling beers are fizzy, yellow, watery beers with very little flavor. Give people a real beer where you can actually taste the malt and hops, and many of them don't like it, especially the hops. I guess people are mostly just looking for the cheapest way to convey alcohol into their bodies. If the taste is a lot like water, great! If they just want cheap alcohol though, how about a $5 bottle of vodka, or maybe some Mad Dog 20/20? Sure they taste like ass, but so does that can of Natural Light...

OMFG, Blitzkrieging Christmas!!!111!!1one!!1!!

Here are videos of Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's bits on the War on Christmas.

Watch out for those legions of anti-Christmas soldiers. They'll be overrunning your city soon. Oh nos.

More willful stupidity

Iran's president top moron continued his antisemitic rhetoric today by saying that the Holocaust is a myth. Call the fool's remarks outrageous, ignorant, insensitive, etc. and you'll be right. I call it willful stupidity. How sad that this supposed leader has no interest whatsoever in knowing the truth. He's an idiot and it's entirely his own fault.

Lava Shots

Here are some really cool lava pictures from Mt. Kilauea on the Big Island of Hawaii. They had a big shelf of hardened lava break off into the ocean recently, triggering a spectacular lava falls. There are also some great archived shots at the above link.

Kilauea happens to be where my profile picture was taken. You've got to love a volcano that's been slowly erupting for about 20 years now and any dopey tourist (e.g. me) can walk right up to a fresh lava flow. It has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

More on executive salaries and the rich getting steadily richer relative to the rest of us is here.

When the US Rep from California admitted to taking bribes this week, I had to wonder how many do it and just haven't gotten caught. All of them? pfffft...
