Fark Exxon-Mobil

CEOs continue to get over 15% more money every year for the last couple of decades, and last year the Fortune 100 CEOs got another 25% compensation boost. Meanwhile the average employee continues to get meager raises that often don't even keep up with inflation.

We just saw one of the worst examples this past week when it came out that Exxon-Mobil's retiring CEO is getting a retirement package worth over $350 million. Of course Exxon's profits have been ridiculously huge as gas prices have soared. So presumably their rank and file employees are enjoying enormous raises and pensions too. bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Yeah.

High gas prices hurt the average worker, not these jackasses who sit on each other's boards of directors and vote each other massive pay raises year after year, or give each other golden parachutes even when they do a lousy job and are asked to leave a company. Not that the douche in question did a lousy job. He was probably good. His retirement payout is asinine though, as are numerous other CEO salaries.

So at least in this instance, so fark you to Exxon-Mobil and their ridiculous payout to their chief executive. Don't buy gasoline from them. Find out where the chains in your area buy their fuel and avoid Exxon-Mobil. Here in Fort Wayne, the Speedway chain sells Marathon gasoline. So there's one easy alternative.

White Trash Wednesday

A coworker features White Trash Wednesday on his blog and a ring of other blogs. I couldn't help but think of him when I saw this quote in an article linked from Totalfark --
Debra Jackson said she likes shopping at the Dollar Palace because it is convenient and casual.
"I don't have to get all dressed up like I'm going to Wal-Mart or something," she said, adding she shops at Williams' store "to pick up my cleaning supplies."

Illegal immigrants

I just watched a news report this morning that confirmed that we have millions of would be immigrants waiting to legally work and live in the United States. So I have to ask, why is whether or not to give current illegal immigrants legal status even an issue? They cut in front of millions of people trying to go through the process legally, and this is a bit more important than cutting in the lunch line. Our American sense of fair play should be telling us that that's crap. Unfortunately certain powers in our government want illegal aliens here so that corporations can exploit them for cheap labor.

The only thing we should be discussing is how to go about fixing this farked up situation so that people trying to be legal immigrants are given the opportunities they deserve. We need more and better border security and more immigration personnel to deport those who are here illegally. If effective, that will make way for the legal immigrants.

Police ask for arrest warrant on Congresswoman

McKinney, the Congresswoman from Georgia who hit a police officer at the Capitol building, may be arrested soon. I don't hold out much hope that that will really happen, but it would certainly make me smile. This insufferable woman immediately played the race card after the incident, saying that Capitol police used racial profiling against her. Nevermind that she had radically changed her hairstyle and wasn't wearing the Congressional pin so that police would recognize her. Then all one did was ask her to stop and take her arm when she didn't. Yet now she pretends to be the victim.

Royal Flush

For the first and quite probably the last time in my life, I got a royal flush tonight while playing Texas Hold'Em. It was diamonds and I was holding the ace. That made my night. I've never even seen a royal flush in the games I've played and most of the other players hadn't either.
