McCain looses the pander bear

Seriously, has there ever been a VP pick that's more obviously just pandering? Sarah Palin? Really? She was the mayor of a small rural village of less than 6,000 people for a few years and she's been governor of Alaska for a year and a half. Now Alaska's an absolutely beautiful place, but keep in mind that the entire state has less than half the population of Brooklyn. While I love to travel and it's a wonderful place to visit, I also know it's very much a different world up there. How on earth will this woman fully understand the issues facing much of the country?

McCain had numerous more qualified individuals he could have chosen and didn't. There's absolutely no other reason to make the selection he did except one: she's a woman. He's hoping to get some disgruntled Clinton voters, despite the fact that Palin is a polar oppose of Hillary Clinton on the issues. So McCain is hoping that women will vote for a ticket with a woman on it solely so they can vote for a woman. That's it. Issues don't matter. She has ovaries! Women should be insulted.

In one stroke McCain has also completely undermined his best attack against Obama, that the Democratic nominee is lacking in experience. How can McCain argue that more experience is so vital while at the same time trying to put an even less experienced person a heartbeat away from the Presidency on his own ticket?

If McCain wins the President, I'll be downright scared of him dying in office. That would make Palin the President and that is a frightening notion.

Here's one Alaskan's view of giving Sarah Palin the VP nod. Bonus: it includes a picture of downtown Wasilla, the village where Palin was mayor.
