This is so stupid that I weep for America

52% of Republicans think ACORN stole the election for Obama. Seriously. I do not have enough palms to apply to my forehead to do this level of idiocy any justice. I thought such an absurd view was on the fringe even in the GOP, but apparently it's the mainstream Republican view. Unbelievable.

Among Republicans, however, only 27% say Obama actually won the race, with 52% -- an outright majority -- saying that ACORN stole it, and 21% are undecided. Among McCain voters, the breakdown is 31%-49%-20%. By comparison, independents weigh in at 72%-18%-10%, and Democrats are 86%-9%-4%.

Once again, Republicans show that ACORN is their all-powerful boogieman, their Illuminati, if you will. They somehow believe that this underfunded organization that relies mainly on volunteers and low wage workers produced a 9.5 million popular vote, 365-173 electoral vote win for Obama.

In fact ACORN only registered 1.3 million new voters for the '08 election. Even if every single one of them was a fake registration and that fake person voted, it wouldn't have been enough. As it is, most of those registrations were legitimate. In a few areas there was evidence of voter registration fraud, which by the way is NOT the same as voter fraud. It means some bogus names showed up on registry lists and by the way, ACORN reported that fact themselves before the election as required by law. It does not mean that those fake people were then able to vote.

ACORN is simply not that powerful, people. Not even close. I don't know where you could possibly get the idea otherwise. Okay, I actually I do know where. I'm looking at you, Fox News.

Stewart spoofs Beck

Another brilliant Daily Show bit, the best I've seen in a long time...
Last week Jon Stewart spoofed insane right wing conspiracy theorist Glenn Beck and it was beautiful.

Hannity uses bogus footage to make DC rally look bigger

Link o' the day

This one was a beautiful Daily Show moment and an example of Fox News's Sean Hannity caught deliberately lying. He's talking to Bachmann about her rally last Thursday in DC to protest against health care reform. Independent estimates put the crowd at 5-10 thousand. Of course Bachmann absurdly claims it was 20 to 45 thousand. Bachmann said it was a spontaneous, word-of-mouth rally. A prior Daily Show segment showed people talking about the dozens of buses arranged to take them to the rally. In other words, word of mouth, my ass.

But the crowd footage was the best part. Hannity switched from a shot of Thursday's rally to a crowd shot of the larger rally from September 12th and misrepresented the latter clip as being from this past Thursday. The sky went from clear to cloudy. The leaves were suddenly green again. It was blatant and pathetic.
