To Stay or Not to Stay... the Course
George W. Bush isn't even trying to make sense in interviews now. In a recent interview, President Bush said, "George, we've never been stay the course". Here's a montage of Bush and Press Secretary Tony Snow saying "we will stay the course" over and over...
Do you suppose Darth Rove cringes everytime Bush heads out for another interview?
Does Tony Snow have the hardest job in America? He's forever being asked to explain just what the hell the President is saying or doing. I almost feel bad for him.
In other political news, the Congressional campaign trail is looking especially stupid. In Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum is running an ad that shows his Democratic challenger's face next to a mushroom cloud. Yes citizens, if you vote for Democrats, you're voting for a WMD terrorist attack. EVERYBODY PANIC!!!!11
Here in my own congressional district, incumbent Mark Souder can't stop talking about how his family is from a small local town and has been there since 1846. So... the fuck... what? Nevermind that Souder hasn't lived there for at least 23 years. His opponent has been a doctor in this area for over 30 years, so obviously neither of them is a carpet bagger. Are we supposed to care how long Souder's ancestors have lived here? Does a campaign based on "I'm just a good ol' local country boy" actually work? If that's your main reason for voting for someone, please, please stay home on November 7th. Voters shouldn't be so ignorant. Unfortunately this district is very strongly Republican, so Souder's likely to win again.
By the way, the man is a conscientious objector AND supports the war. HUH?! Yep. Apparently he's not allowed to kill people, but it's fine for him to have other people pull the trigger.
While I'm at it though, if you're in my district, get out and vote for Souder's opponent, Tom Hayhurst. He seems like an intelligent guy with some good ideas. He's definitely not a Washington insider or a career politician.
